How olive oil is made

To produce olive oil is fairly long and difficult process, so if you follow the steps you could make pure and good oil which everybody likes.

Firstly, the olives are harvested between September and December by hand or with sticks and rakes. Next, they are collected on nets beneath the trees. After that, leaves and small stones are removed and the olives are run through a washer to remove any impurities before crushing. Then, within 24-36 hours of picking, the olives are crushed by granite millstones. The olive paste obtained is layered on mats which are put under pressure from a screw or hydraulic press. The liquid produced is collected and put through a centrifugal separator to separate the water and impurities from the oil. Finally, after centrifugation, the oil is obtained.

To sum up, I would like to say that some people like the quality and some of them like the quantity, so if you like the quality you have to follow these steps and I’m sure that you will be successful.

Compare & Contrast

There are so many differences and similarities between all countries in the world. So now in this essay I’m going to compare and contrast Brunei and the UAE.

Firstly, I’m going to write about the similarities. Both are Islamic countries and both have hereditary monarchies. In addition to that, both countries are very rich because of large-scale natural resources of oil and gas. Furthermore, both countries have national airlines, modern airports and well-developed infrastructures.

However, there are a number of differences. The first and most obvious is the geographical location. The UAE is in the Middle East whereas Brunei is a tropical country in the Far East. Another difference is the climate. The UAE has winter and summer, but in Brunei the weather is largely the same all year round. It also rains a lot more in Brunei and, as a result, the tradition is to build houses on stilts. Another difference is the currency, as dirhams are in the UAE and ringgits in Brunei. Furthermore, people drive on the right in the UAE but on the left in Brunei. Secondary education is single-sex in the UAE but co-educational in Brunei. A final difference is dress; people in Brunei do not wear dishdashas or ubayas.

To sum up, I would like to say that many countries have different traditions and cultures and I like to read about countries' cultures and my real pleasure is to travel, so I hope to visit Brunei next summer to see more about their culture and to enjoy the weather over there.

Reflection 4

My teacher taught us how we can write the compare & contrast essay.
1. A brief introduction about what you are going to write saying what two things you are going to compare (similarities) & contrast (differences) in 3 to 4 sentences.
2. In the second paragraph we have to write about the similarities of this two things and it has to be 3 to 4 sentences.
3. In the third paragraph we have also to write about 3 to 4 sentences about the differences and it has to be about 60 words.
4. In the last paragraph which is the conclusion we have to write between 30 – 40 words and you have not to express an opinion.

Reflection 3

In the process essays, I learned from my teacher that I could use the passive voice.
1. I learned that with some verbs the simple past & past participle are the same, but with other verbs there are 2 separate forms, e.g. go, went & gone.

2. The process essays and the procedure essays are almost the same,
• Words we can use in both essays e.g. first, second, next etc
• The introduction of both essays contains 30 – 50 word, and the body contains about 120 words and the conclusion contains 30-50 words.

UAE & Brazil soccer

Comparisons
Model answer

Compare and contrast the overall play of Brazil’s national football team with that of the UAE. Say which of these teams you would rather watch and give reasons.

Most countries in the world have a football team, and Brazil and the UAE are no exceptions. I will describe the similarities and differences between the two teams, and say which one I would prefer to watch.

Like Brazil, the UAE is a member of FIFA which is an international body for regulating football. This means that both teams have eleven players, and substitutes are allowed. Both teams play to a system that has been agreed with the coaches beforehand. Brazil and the UAE defend when necessary but prefer to attack.

However, there are many differences in the style of play. Brazil plays at a higher level than the UAE and has won the World Cup. The former are fitter and faster than the latter and can adopt their style of play easily. This is because the Brazilian players have experience with teams all over the world while the UAE players usually play for local teams.

In my opinion, Brazil team has more experience than the UAE team as they play with nice movement and good talent, but I feel more interested when the UAE team plays because sometimes they show new talents and they work hard to improve their team.

How to process the orange juice

Orange juice is rich in vitamin C and it is helpful for the health, so this essay is explaining how it is produced.

Firstly, the oranges are unloaded from the lorries. Second the oranges are graded, washed and sized. Then the juice is extracted from the oranges and the residue which is the peel of the orange, is given to the zoo for the animals as food. After that, the juice is evaporated by using the high temperature for a short amount of time. Next, it is concentrated. Then the juice is saved in the refrigerator boxes. Next step is the juice is canned and shipped then sent overseas. Water is added to the concentrated juice. Finally, the orange juice is filled in the bottle then sold to markets, to sell it to the customer.

As you can see, to produce a bottle of orange juice is difficult and it is a long procedure, but you have to follow the steps to get and drink nice orange juice.

Reflection 1 + 2

1. Mr. Hedley taught us how we can write the procedure and what we can use with it, for example: sequence words:
• First.
• Secondly.
• After that.
• Next.
• Finally.
Use the imperative voice, for example:
Firstly, fill the kettle with some water and be careful that you don’t pass the maximum mark. With highlight if we like.
In addition, I learned how to use the active voice e.g. make, choose, fill, etc.

2. Mr. Hedley taught us how to write the essays and what to include e.g.
• The introduction. (25-30 words)
• The body. (100-110 words)
• The conclusion. (25-30words)

3. I learned from him to highlight or to color the verbs: simple past, past perfect, past continuous.
• Security people tried to stop him. (simple past)
• He was skipping from the fire exit door. etc. (past continuous)

Thief at the Emirates phone market

Last week, I was in Abu Dhabi mall with my family. We were at the Emirates phone shop market.

While we were choosing a phone for my brother there were two men standing in front of the cash counter. One of them was paying money to the cashier, then suddenly the other man stole the money, while the cashier was returning the change to the payer, but the thief fled from the shop. The security people tried to stop him but he hit them then skipped through the people. After that by an easy way the security people found him. The security men who were in the shop called their group who were in the mall, and gave them the description of the thief, then they found him by the camera while he was skipping from the fire exit door.

To sum up the story, I would to say nobody can steal or make any crime anywhere in the mall or out of the mall because, you could find every where the camera for more security.

Making butter

Making butter is a long procedure. This is how you do it

First of all you have to choose the proper milk which has a good quality or, better still fresh milk from the farm. Next, put the milk in the fridge to be cool, and then remove the foam from the milk. After that you have to churn the milk properly to make more cream. Later on, which is the fifth step, drain the buttermilk from the butter, because we need pure butter that has not buttermilk or cream. Next step, put the butter in the pot, and then remove any buttermilk with cold water. After all of these steps, for giving you a nice taste you can add a little salt. When you finish that last step, you have to roll the butter with a piece of cloth and finally keep it in the cold place to save it from the sourness.

At the end of the article, you can see that making butter is a long procedure but you have to follow the above steps to make delicious butter.

TRAVEL TO EUROPE

I went with my brother to Europe two months ago. We did this to have a change and visit our uncle there because he had an operation.

We left from Abu Dhabi Airport at 1 clock early morning. The journey was very interesting. I saw so many movies in the plane; also I had some refreshments and I slept. The service and the food were nice. We arrived there at Munich at 7 clock in the morning. Directly we went to the hotel which is the Holiday Inn. The first day was really difficult because we didn’t sleep very well, so we slept all of the day, but we started enjoying our time from the next day. We visited our uncle and his family, and then they took us to the museums and to see the rivers. When we were there, we saw so many places which were beautiful, and also the weather at that time was cloudy with some rain. On Friday, which was our fourth day in Munich, we went to Olympic Park where the BMW museum was, and at that moment there were the fireworks. Daily we were going somewhere else. Really we were very happy with our uncle’s family. So we stayed there for ten days; then we came back to the UAE on the fifth of August.

We agreed to go next summer with our friends to Europe but to another place, because at that season there will be no snow.

Changing the oil

As you know, the engine of the car has a piston, which needs the lubricating oil. While we use the engine the viscosity of the oil becomes poor, so it should be replaced.

At the beginning, to change the oil of the engine, you have to use proper tools. First of all open the refill oil cover, which is at the top of the engine to prevent the vacuum, and then try to release the bolt, which is at the bottom of it carefully. From time to time check the oil flow from the drain bolt until the oil flow stops. Next fix back the drain bolt properly, then fix new an oil filter in case that is needed. After that, add the new oil and then measure the level of the oil from the oil scale measurement at the side of the engine.

Finally, you have to check all the bolts or the covers, which you use to replace the oil of the engine, because the pressure is increasing after you start the engine.
